The past month flew by, and for much of it, I was not at my best. Over the past summer, I've been having trouble with my stomach, and it all came to a head on September 12th. I woke up with a gut-wrenching pain and vomiting. I spent seven days in the hospital, most of them NPO (no food or water). I underwent a procedure the evening of the day that I was admitted that left me in horrific pain, my head reeling, that no pain medicine could touch. As I settled in, and I tried so hard to pray, the victims of the Nazi Holocaust came to mind. Home many victims of the medical "trials" and experiments suffered horrific pain, in the name of medical science and now are forgotten.
Many medical "advances" were made during this time. The sadistic doctors and Hitler justifying these experiments of people they looked at as less than human; less than they who were in charge. My mind there. The agonizing procedures carried out with no anesthesia or pain medicine. They pushed these poor victims to death. Because of their suffering, I would not receive care from what scientists and doctors learned back then. Yes, there have been advances, but much of our modern-day knowledge came from them, and we don't even give it a second thought. That night I prayed my rosary and offered it for all of those forgotten victims who died so that I could in this day receive advanced medical care. In thanksgiving for their lives, I also prayed my Divine Mercy Chaplet because I so often take so much for granted and I know that I am not deserving of this life God has granted me. Guardian Angels, accompany us and protect us in every moment of every day.
